The Top 100: The top 100 taxing subdivisions in Nebraska based on their levy. SID 164 in Sarpy county tops the list for the highest taxing subdivision in the State of Nebraska in 2004.
City and Villages: There are 526 City and Villages with taxing authority in Nebraska . Scotia in Greeley County tops the list while Ayr in Adams County secures the bottom spot.
Community Colleges: Five Community Colleges cover the state, Western levies at nearly twice the rate of Southeast.
Counties: Rock County has the highest tax rate among counties followed closely by Webster County.
Educational Service Units: The educational service units across Nebraska had very similar levies in 2004.
Fire Districts: The Millard area occupies the two top spots as Millard 1 in Douglas county comes in on top followed by the Millard Fire District in Sarpy county.
Natural Resource Districts: The Upper Republican NRD in Chase, Dundy and Perkins counties has a levy that is over 4 times as much of the levy of the Twin Platte NRD.
School Districts Classes 1-5: There are a large number of school districts in this category. Districts in Saunders county occupy the top two spots. Districts in Dawson county have three of the top six spots. Worth noting is the fact that districts from all areas of the state have spots at the top and the bottom of this category.
Schools Class 6: There is a relatively small number of these high school districts. Rushville High #6 gets the honors.
School Bonds: A great chart to look at when a local school districts is proposing a bond. This allows taxpayers to determine how a proposed bond compares.
Townships: Some counties have townships that are taxing subdivisions. This category lists 421 taxing townships in order of the amount of their levy.
Ag Societies: 75 ag societies have taxing authority in Nebraska according to the Report in 2004.
Airports: 36 Airport authorities exist in 2004 as miscellaneous districts.
SIDs: The majority of these SID's are located in the higher populated counties of Douglas, Sarpy and Lancaster counties.
